Energy Retrofit Toolkit

Looking for helpful information about energy retrofitting your property? Historic Ithaca's new website now has an Energy Retrofit Toolkit that aims to help homeowners, renters, landlords, and others better understand the benefits and challenges that may come with the use, maintenance, and energy-efficient retrofitting of historic and older buildings. We believe that historic preservation has an important role to play in working toward Ithaca's sustainability goals. The variety of topics covered with links to many other useful resources can help property owners think about possible steps they can take. Funded in part by a grant from the Historic Preservation Education Foundation and a grant from the Daniel K. Thorne Intervention Fund of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the toolkit was compiled by our 2021 summer intern, Andrew Boghossian, who is an AAP student at Cornell University. It was reviewed by consultant George Aiken from Taitem Engineering. George notes that the toolkit "is clear, concise, and provides a lot of resources for further reading." Please explore the toolkit here: https://www.historicithaca.org/toolkit
