We're thrilled to introduce the newest member of our team here at Significant Elements: Alison Shaff!
Alison brings with her a wealth of experience, a passion for creativity, and a deep-rooted commitment to community service. Let's get to know her a little better through this spotlight interview.
Alison's professional journey has been nothing short of remarkable. With a career spanning decades, industries, and continents, she brings a diverse set of skills and experiences to her role as our Retail Manager. From managing a warehouse of handmade glassware to navigating eco-tourism expeditions around the globe, Alison's path eventually led her to Ithaca in 2012. Prior to joining Significant Elements, she managed Pastimes Antiques, bringing her expertise in vintage and repurposed goods to the table.
When asked about her favorite project so far, Alison shared, "Getting familiar with the Historic Ithaca team and the immense space are early favorites so far!" Her enthusiasm for diving into new challenges is evident, and we're excited to see the innovative ideas she'll bring to our space.
Beyond her professional achievements, Alison is motivated by her commitment to serving the community. On her days off, you might find her tinkering with dollhouse furniture or creating FIMO clay creations for Sylvanian families and Calico Critter vignettes. But what might surprise you is her love for watching Congressional hearings—an unexpected passion that speaks to her curiosity and engagement with the world around her.
Alison's dedication to sustainability and repurposing aligns perfectly with our mission here at Significant Elements. As she puts it, "I come from a long line of resourceful folks who instilled in me an understanding for reusing whatever possible and recreating fresh items from found." Her commitment to breathing new life into existing objects resonates deeply with our goals of preserving and celebrating the past while embracing creativity and innovation.
As Alison settles into her role as Retail Manager, she's excited about the possibilities that lie ahead. While it's still early days, she's eager to dive into her new responsibilities and make a meaningful impact within our community.
Join us in welcoming Alison to the Significant Elements family! We can't wait to see the positive contributions she'll make as we continue working towards our goals of celebrating history, creativity, and sustainability.
