CR0WD: Circularity, Reuse, and Zero Waste Development

CR0WD (Circularity, Reuse, and Zero Waste Development) is a collaborative network of community leaders and academics working to address the vast system of building material waste within New York State. We believe that deconstruction is the first step in ensuring that our built environment is changed and grows with environmental ethics front of mind.

CR0WD seeks to advance sustainability, resilience, and green jobs within the built environment by helping communities realize the environmental, economic, and cultural benefits of reusing buildings and building materials through research, education, policy, design, and development of an equitable green workforce.

Historic Ithaca is proud to be a founding partner of this effort! In the summer of 2020, CR0WD founding partners came together, concerned about continued demolition in central New York and its harm to our environment, economies, and sense of place. Initially focused in the Finger Lakes region, CR0WD has expanded its partners and initiatives to become a leading voice in New York State for the benefits of deconstruction and reuse of building materials.
