Education at Historic Ithaca

Education is a key component of Historic Ithaca’s mission to promote the value and enhancement of local historic buildings and neighborhoods though education, advocacy and action. Through education we promote the value and enhancement of Tompkins County’s historic buildings and neighborhoods; engage individuals, families and communities with their physical surroundings; and highlight our communities’ architectural heritage and “connections to place” through the lens of historic buildings.

Our primary aim is to increase public awareness of and appreciation for Tompkins County’s architectural legacy.  Goals include:

  • providing education on the local historic built environment
  • supporting individual and collective action
  • developing preservation skills and workforce development
  • fostering a strong network of supporters
