Preservation Awards

2010 Award winners with HI staff and board members
Every year Historic Ithaca presents awards for sensitive restoration and preservation projects within Tompkins County. We’ve made nearly 300 awards since 1968!
Any preservation, restoration, rehabilitation or adaptive reuse project completed within the past two years may be nominated for an award. Nominations will be reviewed by a panel of preservation professionals and awards made based on such considerations as the importance of the project to the long-term preservation of the building; adherence to basic preservation principles as outlined in the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation; and the impact, or potential impact, of the project on the surrounding community.
Awards will be presented at Historic Ithaca’s Annual Meeting on May 3, 2012. Nominations must be received by mail at Historic Ithaca’s office, 212 Center Street, or by email to kristen@historicithaca.org by 5:00 pm Friday, April 6th, and must include all information requested below. Incomplete nominations will not be considered. For more information, contact Kristen Olson at Historic Ithaca, (607) 273-6633 or kristen@historicithaca.org. We are happy to provide guidance in preparing a nomination.

***A special award category for 2012 is the creative use of salvaged materials in the construction of a chicken coop or other outbuilding. We’ve heard from many Significant Elements customers shopping for windows, doors, and other materials for their coops and we’re curious to see them!
If you have an outbuilding to enter, please send one or more high-resolution digital image (jpeg please) to kristen@historicithaca.org. Please include your full name and address in the email. All applicants will receive a certificate of recognition and will be entered into a drawing for a $50 gift certificate to Significant Elements.
