Remembering Clara Golay
1920-2011
Historic Ithaca Board 1980-81
We are saddened to hear of the passing of Clara Golay, an early member of Historic Ithaca who served on our board as Vice President and Interim President. Clara was instrumental in organizing many Historic Ithaca tours and trips to places as far as Baltimore and Canada. Clara was involved in so many worthy activities in Tompkins County and Historic Ithaca is proud to have had the benefit of her enthusiasm and wisdom. Her family will announce a local memorial service.

Historic Ithaca Welcomes Alphonse Pieper
Historic Ithaca today announced that it has hired (actually, rehired!) Alphonse Pieper, Historic Ithaca’s Preservation Director in the late 1990s before moving on to start his own architectural salvage business in Homer, New York. Alphonse has an M.A. in Historic Preservation Planning from Cornell University, as does current Preservation Director, Jessica Evans. “In rejoining the organization,” says CEO Jim Tantillo, “Alphonse brings 30 years of experience in historic preservation construction and services, which, along with Jessica’s expertise, will be a great benefit to our members and community in helping to restore and maintain their historic and older homes.”
