Walk or run this one-mile, all-terrain, challenging dash through Ithaca’s historic municipal cemetery. The course starts uphill and goes downhill from there… only to go back uphill! Costumes are welcome and prizes will be given.

Runners receive the special $5 “Friends of Historic Ithaca” rate (a $9 value!) for any October tour of the cemetery, an annual favorite!

RACE LOCATION: Registration and the starting line are at the Cornell Avenue entrance to the cemetery, between University Avenue and Stewart Avenue (at the top of the Baldwin Memorial Stairway and across from Llenroc).
Registration opens at 8:00 a.m.
Timed run is at 9:00 a.m.
Fun run is at approximately 9:15 a.m.
PRIZES! Wear your costume – there are prizes for best youth and adult costumes, as well as prizes for the top three timed runners.
PARKING: Driving to the Sprint? Look for street parking on Stewart Avenue, University Avenue, or Linn Street. Or warm up for the race by parking in a downtown garage and walking to the Ithaca City Cemetery (about 15 minutes from the Seneca Street garage).
You can drop off runners at the registration location, but there is no parking on Cornell Avenue.
The one-mile Cemetery Sprint starts on Maple Drive.
Follow the green inner loop (Maple-Oak-Locust-Elm), transitioning to the red loop (Maple-Pine-Locust-Spruce-Maple-Pine), and finishing on Pine Drive.
The course will be marked on race day and volunteers will be stationed along the route to direct racers.
