Celebrating May as Preservation Month

In celebration of May being Historic Preservation Month, Historic Ithaca is pleased to announce the following activities:


HISTORIC ITHACA’s ANNUAL MEETING & PRESERVATION AWARDS
Historic Ithaca will host its Annual Meeting on May 19th, 2009 from 5-7pm at the Unitarian Church of Ithaca on the corner of Buffalo and Aurora Streets.
The meeting is open to the public.
Light refreshments will be served.

Have our year-end review of Historic Ithaca
• Present Preservation Awards to honor outstanding Preservation efforts in the region.

Historic Ithaca at the Deconstruction Workshop in Binghamton

Historic Ithaca’s Director, Alphonse Pieper attended:

Deconstruction Workshop: How Green Demolition can Reduce Waste, Create Jobs and Make Affordable Building Materials Available in Binghamton

This day-long workshop was held on Tuesday February 24th, 2009 from 9:3am to 5pm at the Decker Community Room of the Broome county Public Library, 185 Court St in Binghamton.

The purpose of this workshop was to raise awareness amongst the public and private sectors about deconstruction (the systematic disassembly of a structure to maximize reuse and recycling) and how this practice can reduce waste, train workers, create jobs and make affordable building materials available in our community.

IBM Endicott History and Heritage Center Invites you to Open Houses in Feb and March

Tuesday, February 24th, 2009

Explore a century of information technology from the 1880′s to the 1980′s at the IBM Endicott History & Heritage Center at 1701 North Street in Endicott.

Open Houses to visit the Center are scheduled the last Saturdays in February & March from 1-4PM. Reservations are required 1 week prior to the open house.
