Historic Ithaca planted a bit of architectural history at this year’s Ithaca Festival parade. “Featured Site” posters popped up along the parade route on Cayuga Street, highlighting a few houses and buildings that have a long history in Fall Creek and downtown. The Gimme! Coffee building at 428 N. Cayuga Street, for example, has long been tied to food–first as a meat market and then as a corner grocery store. A big THANK YOU to HI volunteer Ashley Miller, who researched and wrote the site histories. The posters are a great way to draw attention to Ithaca’s sometimes overlooked historic architecture, and you may see them pop up again at future events.
