Karen Van Etten Book Signing

& Library of the Built Environment Open House

Saturday, September 14

From 1pm to 2pm at Significant Elements, local author Karen Van Etten will be signing copies of her new book, King Bridge over Troubled Waterschronicling her long but ultimately successful journey to preserve Newfield’s historic Zenas King Bowstring Bridge.

From 1pm to 3pm, we’ll be holding an Open House in our Library of the Built Environment. The library was moved into a newly-renovated space adjacent to our offices in early 2013. Stop by for a FREE peek at our growing collection, see a special selection of ephemera and oddities, and learn how you can research the history of your home using our resources. Our periodical collection, including This Old House, Old House Journal, American Bungalow, and Green Building & Design, is a great resource for DIY and renovation ideas, period furnishings and decor, paint colors and landscape projects, and much more.

The Library of the Built Environment is open by appointment Tuesday-Saturday at 210 Center Street. Use of the library is free to Friends of Historic Ithaca, otherwise there is a $5 research fee. To make an appointment, contact kristen@historicithaca.org.
