Co-sponsored by the New York State Barn Coalition, this two-day event will celebrate and explore the historic barns of Tompkins County. A motorcoach will leave from the Clinton House on Saturday at 10am. Our guides will take us to four historic barns in different towns and talk about their significance, history and preservation. We’ll spend some time in each barn so we can see construction methods and materials.
Bus Tour, Saturday October 4th 10am – 4pm
The bus will leave from the Clinton House (119 N. Cayuga St, Ithaca) at 10am sharp on Saturday morning. Please arrive a few minutes early so we can get a head count and make sure everyone is on board.
The itinerary: we’re going to do a big figure-8 around the county, seeing barns in Lansing, Dryden, Caroline, Newfield and the Town of Ithaca. Halfway through the day, we’ll stop for a boxed lunch (provided by Historic Ithaca). We will try to be back at the Clinton House by 4pm.
Our tour leader is Rick Lazarus, with some “guest appearances” from other barn experts/preservationists.
